Today, Jagananna Transferred Rs 10,000

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy disbursed Rs 285.25 crore financial aid to over 2,85,350 washermen, tailors and Nayi Brahmins at the click of a button this morning. This is the second time that Jagan is disbursing the aid to these categories of beneficiaries after coming to power, under the Jagananna Chedodu scheme, introduced last year. The funds released would be deposited right into the accounts of the beneficiaries at the calculation of Rs 10,000 per annum to each of them.

This scheme would benefit as many as 1,46,103 tailors owning shops. They would get financial help of Rs 146.10 crore while 98,439 dhobis having shops would get Rs 98.44 crore. At the same time, over 40,808 Nayi Brahmins would be benefited with an aid of Rs 40.81 crore.

Including the Rs 285.35 crore aid disbursed today, the YCP government had given Rs 583.78 crore to the above three categories of beneficiaries under the scheme so far. The beneficiaries of this scheme have been chosen in a transparent manner conducting social audit and displaying the lists in the village and ward secretariats.

Significantly, the YCP government is unencumbering the accounts of the recipients of the previous debts and ensuring that the amount released freshly is deposited into their accounts.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagan hailed the beneficiaries as very hardworking people who keep themselves self-employed. It is the responsibility of the government to extend help to these people, he said.

The scheme was introduced by the government exclusively for the washermen, tailors and barbers having their own shops but lost their livelihood due to the pandemic.
