It was just 2 documents so went to the regular UPS . Future lo emaina notary works untey will consider !

first you need to go to this site and register as new oci 

there are 2 parts - PART A -Fill in all details

PART B - you will need to upload a passport size photo and thumb impression photo.

once you complete both parts and click on submit - you will able to generate the application form as pdf - take thumb impression and parent signature here and also notarize it.

 

next step is to upload docs online and also send them in an envelope to vfs

you will need these docs:

1    ADDRESS PROOF -drivers license 
2    CURRENT PASSPORT - photo and last page 
4    INDIAN ORIGIN PROOF - CURRENT INDIAN PASSPORT OF PARENTS
6    LEGAL STATUS OF PARENTS (IN CASE OF MINOR APPLICANTS) - I797 Copy
7    MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE  
9    PARENTAL AUTHORIZATION (IN CASE OF MINOR APPLICANTS)
11    RELATIONSHIP CERTIFICATE -birth certificate 

 

these docs need to be notarized when sending them physically

parental authorization form - notarized

completed app form - notarized

 

Please cross verify the updated list using this document

NEW OCI Checklist - For MINOR (US NATIONAL BY BIRTH) - need to fill this and get your kid thumb impression and include in final checklist

 

follow steps listed on vfs site to register and make payment and get the labels.

enclose all the above documents along with Application Confirmation Letter you get once you submit vfs form.

I sent my new born kid to INdia during kid’s 4th month on X1 visa (valid for 1 year). 
 

as my kid is in INdia, can I apply OCI?
