Not necessarily.

Calculate property tax which is high in Texas, insurance, maintenance,  cost of gas and car depreciation, loss of time and probability of getting into an accident due to additional commute.....you will find that you throw away much higher than what you pay for Rent.

this is absolutely correct

People thinking renting is waste is not same in texas with high property taxes and high home insurances.
