Anta Assamey Posted March 3, 2022 Report Posted March 3, 2022 The AP High Court’s verdict in connection with Amaravati and CRDA is a huge setback for the YCP government. Immediately after the court’s verdict, AP CM YS Jagan met Municipal minister Botsa Satyanarayana and discussed the court’s ruling. Post meeting Jagan, minister Botsa spoke to the media and he expressed strangeness over the High Court’s verdict. “Our government has repealed the ‘Three Capitals’ bill and I find this verdict by the High Court really bizarre. We expected the High Court’s decision in favour of Amaravati farmers. Also as per the Indian Constitution, Assembly and Parliament are law making places and I’m unsure to believe that the High Court said AP government has no authority against CRDA and Amaravati,” said Botsa. Yet Botsa added that the state government will look into the verdict and go ahead with appropriate action. “I would like to reiterate that this government’s intention is to decentralise the development and administration. We are committed to ‘Three Capitals’ and we will come up with a fresh bill soon,” added Botsa. Irrespective of the High Court’s verdict, it appears that YCP government is unmoved and prefer the ‘Three Capitals’ no matter what instead of a single capital region. Quote
