Mexican smugglers have sawed through chunks of Trump's border wall 3,272 times over the past three years, costing $2.6 million in repairs

  • Sections of the Trump-era Southern border wall were cut through 3,272 times by smugglers ferrying migrants across the US-Mexico border
  • U.S. Customs and Border Protection has spent $2.6 million in repairing the steel border beams over the last three years, according to The Washington Post
  • The steel bollards range from 18 to 30 feet and are sawed off at the bottom, allowing migrants to walk through them
  • CBP repair crews then place metal plate sleeves to secure the bottom end of the beams
  • The agency detected 891 breaches in fiscal year 2019; 906 throughout fiscal year 2020, an additional 1,475 in fiscal year 2021
