A video showing a reporter in front of several bodies on a road has gone viral on social media. Many assumed the video was from Ukraine. During the clip, one of the bodies, wrapped in black plastic, was spotted moving, leading to backlash on social media with some people calling the reports of civilian deaths in the Ukrainian war a ‘propaganda by the West’.

The video has been widely shared on Twitter and other social media platforms. Many claimed that they have caught the ‘behind the scenes’ of the war in Ukraine on live camera.

Fact check

The video is not from Ukraine but of a demonstration against climate change held last month on 4 February in Vienna. The person in front of the camera was a Germany-based reporter, Marvin Bergauer, who reported for the news channel OE24.TV.

In the video, Bergauer was speaking in German which could have contributed to many people misinterpreting the news report.
