Arabs have a saying that when paraphrased goes something like this :

A goat born in a horse's stable does not become a horse it remains a goat

Similarly less than one full generation of ties to any country does not make you a full blown son of the soil of that country. Heck multiple generations born here did not help Americans from being viewed as outsiders and worse, in the past. If you've spent anytime perusing America's history you'd know. 

You may be on paper a citizen, but no one really sees you that way - whether in the U.S. or in any other country. Scores of examples abound in this respect. 

Also who really knows how he got elected.

One thing is for certain Silicon Valley big wigs needed a gopher to tout their brand of libertarian progressivism & he rose to their occasion to unseat Mike Honda.
