A Johns Hopkins surgeon was shot Friday morning in Northeast Baltimore during a carjacking.

Dr. Madhu Subramanian, 38, was shot just after 7 a.m. near the intersection of Loch Raven Boulevard and E. 36th Street, according to hospital officials. Police said the shooting happened in the 1100 block of E. 36th Streetand officers who were called to the area found him nearby in the 1200 block.
