If you are planning to get your Indian passport renewed in the US, the process is very simple and we got the passport renewed within 4 weeks (no tatkal).

But ladies, if you are planning to send a 2x2 photograph in a SLEEVELESS top, the VFS (Houston TX) will reject it and ask for a covered photo. As stupid as it sounds but this is what happened to my wife's passport renewal. I couldn't find this instruction stated on the pdf for photo requirements. They still find a way to piss you off !
