Rumors are coming that our company will be forcing RTO for the whole company, including permanent remote employees, which includes me. It’s said that 3 months will be given to relocate. I will not be relocating. I used to work on site, but pre-pandemic I transitioned to being fully remote. Went through all the procedures following our policies, got full approval from HR, payroll, and my manager that I have a paper trail for. I am 100% designated as being permanently remote in all of our systems, I’m not someone who just moved away during the pandemic.

If I’m let go because I refuse to move, will I be eligible for unemployment?

it might be relavant for companies who have less real estate , or majority remote etc but big companies tesla , apple , mostly FB , Google are kind of pushing employees to come back to work they started with 3 days,

Okay donno abt big companies , but i have seen many of my friends moving to places like NC etc and enjoying their fully remote jobs

i will Be cautious in accepting fully remote and have big commitments ,  for the time being may be shorter term 2 years to have a ride is fine

I think big companies always put pressure, I personally prefer comfort over than pressure

all employment in america is at will employment. Only protections you have is protections related to race, creed, secual orientation etc. Apart from those the company can fire you for any reason at any time and you can quit at any time.

Bro you are in different world 100s of positions they are forcing to come to office , 40 hours should be logged in work place thats tesla policy now i know 3 people 2 in  IT and one in core metrials engineering he got laid offf
