Popular Post Starblazer Posted August 7, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted August 7, 2022 the movie is predictable and there are not many surprise elements, so you can read it even if you haven't watched the movie yet. 1. this is not entirely the story of bimbisara but of 2 brothers bimbisara and devadutta, but we don't see much of devadutta. there is no character development, so we only see him as a padding to bimbisara story. the film would've been remarkable if they gave equal importance to them both in the first half and continued with bimbisara's story in the second half. first 30 mins of the film moves at snail's pace due to uneven narration and complete focus on bimbisara. 2. catherine's story reminds us of anushka in baahubali. she just appears when someone talks about her and disappears in rest of the movie. her character also became a padding without any development. 3. the present has nothing much to offer. it reminds us of Yama gola and Yama leela stories. there is not much story happening and the characters just stand there watching bimbisara driving the story. 4. the villains are horrible. present lo ancient book kosam vethike doctor parvaledu, past lo maree adhvanam. Bhageera ante paniki aahara padhakam lo panichese koolodiki costume vesi teesukochinatlu unnadu. audience ki veedini nenaina kodatha annantha weak ga kanipinchadu. hero ki antha elevation ichi villain ni maree intha weak ga present cheyyatam valla movie lo pedda conflict ledu. 5. VFX work & production design are bad. this is understandable. manaki technology entha perigina VFX realistic ga undalante chaala budget pettali. but bimbisara limited locations lo teeyatam valla organic ga anipinchadu. they managed to pull it off within limited resources available. 6. costumes could've been better. Kalyan Ram ki through out the film manchi costumes icharu, but higher positions lo unde mantri, senadipathi, etc. ki soldiers ki iche costumes icharu. we can clearly notice this difference. 7. maya darpanam concept is amazing and reminds us of bhairava dweepam. but cave open cheyataniki finger print scanner & voice recognition pettadam silly ga undi. Anantha Padmanabhaswamy temple lo laaga nagabandham, jalabandham, laanti concepts use cheyyalsindi. aa bandham vesina vaalle tiyyali ante saripoyedi. 8. editing was horrible. editor ruined most of the film with uneven pacing. this might be partly due to incoherent screenplay. 9. some dialogues are good but overall, they are not up to the mark. we expect a lot from folklore films. 10. acting is good or reasonable from everyone. Kalyan Ram had to do 90% of the work and he is good in his role. others barely had any scope to perform. 11. keeravani's BGM is top-notch. he uses tracks from his past films here and there but it works for the genre. overall, bimbisara is a good one-time watch but it's nowhere near traditional folklore films like bhairava dweepam, baahubali, etc. screenplay: the film could've been 4-5 times more successful if they improved the screenplay. the following story structure is what works for folklore. 1. opening scene should be in the current period with a quest for the ancient treasure. they should've closed it here with a hint that bimbisara will come to this period instead of dragging it through out first half. 2. the first act should've been about the rivalry of brothers and the love track of devadutta. finding maya darpanam should've been the interval block (or first plot point) after establishing characters and their motives. 3. all 3 opponents of bimbisara (Dr. Sharma, Devadutta, and Bhageera) should've been established in the first part itself for a proper 4-corner opposition. this also raises curiosity to see if bhageera kills devadutta considering him to be bimbisara. 4. second half lo slow pace block antha trim cheyyalsindi. present time lo jarige incidents ki story lo pedda importance ledu. they dragged it until the climax. 5. third act lo action undalsindi instead of making it a rush. devadutta bus stand lo bus kosam wait chesthunnatlu pakka nilabadakunda story lo involve aithe effective ga undedi. overall, some 11th hour changes could've saved the screenplay to a great extent. 1 3 Quote
Starblazer Posted August 7, 2022 Author Report Posted August 7, 2022 the film doesn't have much competition from next week releases Karthikeya 2 and Macherla Niyojakavargam, so it could easily get into profit zone. 1 1 Quote

If they do pass, then they'll get few theatres for the long weekend coming up. in metros , they do need to compete with lal singh and raksha bandhan. even if sita ramam and bimbi get 20% of shows for next weekend, thats huge.
