It’s one way of telling by GOI to Chinese smartphones makers don’t kill your margins by going against each other and you basically supply to Jio and at the same time they are telling people to buy it from  Ambani only

basically chinese makers are safe and the ones who are ducked are consumers because there is no competition for discounts and essentially a monopoly, jio gets to push whatever down the throats of the people with no choice.

it’s like white label low cost phones that US carriers sell, problem with India 90% are looking for low cost phones as opposed to US where 90% are buying premium phones

So country is going back to pre1991. but atleast then it used to be public companies like APTRON , UPTRON making stuff for us. or ALLWYN for that mattter. There used to be long waitlists but products were cheap and good quality.

Now the entire market is being given to crony capitalists.

Also the inherent cruelty of indian policy is evident. Why restrict cheaper ones ? because poor needs to be punished and made choiceless - they dont want the wealthy and middle class to go without choices.
