It's kind of a direct transfer and instant. Earlier Qatar had Qmiles, and it used to be a direct transfer and better value. Thus year they have switched to Avios. Not sure about the value..as I haven't booked any after the change.

Emirates lo aithey you get atleast 25% savings when you transfer MR points to Skymiles. Friend booked recently.
