Jogging doesn't help lose weight

Running might not be the ideal form of exercise, especially if you want to lose weight.

Says Greg Brookes, a London-based personal trainer: "Lots of people start running to lose weight and it doesn't always work - and this is why."

"Fat is one of our body's favourite sources of energy," says Brookes. "The more you run, the more your body prepares itself for your next run. You will actually start to hold on to more fat," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

Brookes, with a clientele that includes celebrities, high-fliers and housewives, suggests why you won't get leaner is that the body is an amazing machine and will adapt to anything.

"The more time you spend running, the better you become at running and the more efficient you get, the less energy you use and the fewer calories you burn," says Brookes.

According to him, running is also bad for joints. "When you run, two-and-a-half times your bodyweight is transmitted through your joints."

"If that force is repeated over and over, eventually your weakest joint will give out. Usually the ankles or the knees are the first to go," he adds.

Contrary to popular belief that any exercise will speed up your metabolism, running can, says Brookes, do the opposite.

Well, I've controlled my weighr and waistline for the past 33 years by jogging atleast 4 times a week. regular running helps, but starting suddenly you should consult a doctor.

Hi all my life foolish fitness specialists taught me to run, navy said run, teacher said run, elders said run, games teacher said run and today I am alive with broken knees...

Frens if you wish to lose weight please take up brisk walk 60 mins a day and forget all kinds of dieting.

always walking is the right thing to get our weight loss. If anybody has thyroid problems also have the genuine problem of weight loss. If one wants to loose weight take some low fat food replacement drink and for thyroid people take calmag and iron folic to control thyroid problem and then take low fat food replacement drink

hello guys

its my experience, following steps is that

1. avoid sugar
2 avoid like aloo chat, pizzas burger and other related to the butter items
3. add honey in your diet,
4. less eat , and drinking more water & juice
5. don't sleep at noon
6. take tea two times
7. use lemon water in morning

HI GUYS

its my opinion, please follow the below metioned

1. first be an vegeterian
2. wake up early
3.have your food at the correct time
4.drink more water
5.jog 2 km a day
6.maintain diet
7. when you get up from the bed drink water without brushing your teeth
15 min later brush your teeth and after 45 min have your break fast
after break fast, lunch or dinner, please dont have the habbit of
walking, dont take bath after your food may be at any time
8. avoid afternoon nap.
9. eat vegetables half baked

Yes, the report is right. Most, so called health advisors, hardly have any medical / research background and just advice on hearsay, giving wrong advice to patients. Running does badly effect the knee and ankle joints, increasing greater pressure leading to wear and tear on the bones and cartilage. Also, the body reacts to changes according to the needs of the person and conserves or looses energy (in the form of fat) to maintain the equlibrium. The best way to loose weight, if you do not have any genetic or thyroid disorder, is to maintain a healthy diet, with small quantity of food intake at regular intervals and regular excercise. This helps to maintain flexibility and at the same time regulate enough energy levels to maintain body weight. In case you have genetic or thyroid problem, no amount of exercise will help to reduce weight. You need to take expert advice from qualified endocrinologists.

Earlier we used to say pen is more than the sword. Now the key board with net is more than all the wise men.Anything more than the limit is bad. One should not stretch rubber more than its elastic limit. Veges and Fruits are good. But can you pull on only on it. No and never.
Good balanced diet,moderate exercises,good rest,calm mind,and still active life is the key to health.Ofcourse your luck and play of almighty is equally important. Healthy life depends on "Aahar,Vihar,Vishranti,Heredity and Surrounding" and Gods blessings too.Dont carry over whatever said.You are the thinker.
I am 67.Bomb blast victim of 11th July 2006, sufferd by heart attack because of mental trauma but active at present and ran in Marathon 2010 for 4.5 km in 40 min.Running again in 2011-17 th Jan.Meet me there!!!

it,s right .....difference between walking and jogging is you can cover the same distance in short time ....!!!
on the ohter hand jogging hurts the knee joint , so it should be avoided
30 minutes of brisk walk for five days a week is enough....and that's it...

hello,
I m 40yr
accountant in pvt ltd firm,
when I join the company i m 118 kg 3 year ago.
my sugar is 160
then i start walk for 30 minutes in day for 3 kms.
some easy yoga exercise.
now i m 98 kg,
my sugar is normal,
diet is less then normal.
stamina is good.
living happy life and try less more wight.

hey.. u need to change your exercise pattern from day to day. your muscles get so used to exercises if u do same things daily, yielding to less results. so, always confuse muscles by doing diff forms of exercises daily. it will help u the most. expert opinions also says the same.
