I’m surprised yes TRT should be used for lifelong although clearcut benefits are not proven after 60 years benefits of testosterone therapy are 1.improved virilization /sexual function 2. increase in muscle strength and fat free mass 3.improves bone density other possible effects on mood and cognition are not yet proven convincingly also did your consultant mention about the possibility of decrease in spermatogenesis and fertility by using TRT? are you aware of it Quote

What happens if I stop using TRT after 60 years? it has to be tapered slowly under the supervision because abrupt cessation causes weight gain , muscle loss, headache, brain fog that you discuss with your consultant , if not for any specific reason there is no point in stopping TRT Quote
