వాషింగ్టన్‌: అమెరికా(America)లో స్థిరపడిన భారత సంతతికి చెందిన వారిపై జాత్యాహంకార ఘటనలు కొనసాగుతూనే ఉన్నాయి! తాజాగా అమెరికా చట్టసభ్యురాలు ప్రమీల జయపాల్‌(Pramila Jayapal)కు బెదిరింపు సందేశాలు వచ్చాయి. తిరిగి భారత్‌కు వెళ్లిపోవాలంటూ ఓ వ్యక్తి పరుష పదజాలంతో దూషిస్తోన్న ఆడియో క్లిప్‌లను ఆమె ట్విటర్‌ వేదికగా షేర్‌ చేశారు. ‘సాధారణంగా రాజకీయ ప్రముఖులు తమ దుర్బలత్వాన్ని ప్రదర్శించరు. కానీ.. హింసను అంగీకరించలేం. కాబట్టి.. వీటిని బయటపెడుతోన్నా. ఇలాంటి దుశ్చర్యలకు ఆధారంగా నిలిచే జాత్యహంకారం(Racism), లింగ వివక్షనూ సహించేది లేదు’ అని ఆమె పేర్కొన్నారు.

చెన్నైలో జన్మించిన ప్రమీల జయపాల్.. మొట్టమొదటి భారతీయ- అమెరికన్ చట్టసభ్యురాలు‌. డెమొక్రటిక్ పార్టీకి చెందిన ఆమె ప్రతినిధుల సభ(హౌస్‌ ఆఫ్‌ రిప్రజెంటేటివ్స్‌)లో సియాటెల్‌కు ప్రాతినిధ్యం వహిస్తున్నారు. గతంలోనూ సియాటెల్‌లోని ఆమె ఇంటి వెలుపల ఓ వ్యక్తి పిస్తోలుతో కనిపించాడు. పోలీసులు అతన్ని బ్రెట్ ఫోర్సెల్(49)గా గుర్తించి, అరెస్టు చేశారు. ఇదిలా ఉండగా.. భారతీయ అమెరికన్లపై ఇటీవల వరుసగా జాత్యహంకార ఘటనలు నమోదవుతున్నాయి. సెప్టెంబరు 1న కాలిఫోర్నియాలో ఒకరిని, ఆగస్టు 26న టెక్సాస్‌లో నలుగురు మహిళలను ఇదే విధంగా కొంతమంది దుర్భాషలాడారు.
