Japanese have the similar genes they had century ago. Their avg hight increased from 5ft to 6ft+ in a century. Food and epigenetics play big role in hieght. Western food is designed to achieve the optimal physical growth during growing years. Indians, especially from rural areas didn't achieve their optimal growth in last few generations like the current generations are doing.
