With exception of few movies like Maya bazaar etc, this is heavily tilted towards last decade ...

IMDb is trying to weed out fans rating who gives 1 or 10 rating for wrong reasons, but their algo still needs work

true....IMDB is user rated websites. Not by critics....refer rottentomatoes, metacritics etc which are only rated by registered critics (most of them are in the oscar and other awards panels)

Where as last in the list No.50 Malliswari has 3.3K people rated it.

So possibly seems its based more no of rating provided by users got it... But many classics which are supposed to make the cut are missing.
