Most premium phones have now esim. India also started accepting them

this is good option. got couple iphone 11 for $150 each. in-fact ordered for trade in deals but one is like new and eligible for unlock immediately with 8 month warranty left. so sent ** to indiaaa for cousin

Yes, as long as you get it from reputed seller and device not reported as lost or stolen .. also don't  buy stuff from craigslist 

I personally bought so many phones and did trade-in's. Never dealt with an issue and again YMMV
