he has three kids. One is Vikram, One is Jayam Ravi, One is Trisha.

Vikram is busy fighting battles, and suddenly after a battle he sends his friend Karthi to give a message to his dad, the king.

The king is in Tanjavur - which is the current capital of the Chola kingdom..

the older capital is Pazhayarai - where Trisha is living.

Vikram is in the Rashtrakuta zone somewhere.

So Karthi goes to Tanjavur to give the king a message.. meets Aishwarya in between

Aishwarya is a stunningly beautiful woman that the top chieftain of the chola kingdom marries.. He's old and he's besotted with her and would do anything for her.

but Aish has connections with Chola's rivals too.

Also Aish grew up in the palace along with Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Vikram when they were younger.. Vikram fell in love with her and Trisha played spoilsport with it.. and the queen sent away Aish after that.

after many years, Aish again makes a comeback to Tanjavur via SarathKumar.. and this upsets Vikram and so he goes to war constantly to avoid meeting Aish in Tanjavur.

It upsets Vikram because he met Aish earlier under different circumstances.. In the field of battle tending to the runaway Pandya king.

so he thinks Pandya king is her lover (he's not.. he's her dad - spoiler for part 2, but I dont give a fcuk anyway).

so now when he sees her in chola kingdom, he's confliicted.. He loves her, and also knows something about her is not right. its making him crazy

most of the story happens in the background in the movie. you have to make the connections while you watch.

its not that hard.

ofcourse if you are put off by the movie, then there's no point trying anuko.

i'm just saying that majority of the scenes have backstories that are shown in snippets, which you can miss if you are watching it casually. so it may feel like nothing is happening, but the movie is actually going at hyperspeed and you've failed to catch up to it. anthe

its fine. watch some other movie if this is not your type.

It has some stunning set design, costume design and photography.

the movie is gorgeous to look at.
