Our forefathers who predominantly from farming class ...despite busy farming life ..had a go at recreation , very productive at construction of anything from homes to mini irrigation canals ... Temples... Wells 

They are self dependant and always had activities to keep them busy .

After labour become cheap..these city folks had nothing left for them to do ..other than talking about politics, cricket , movies all day .. too much of idle brain and devil's work shop.. YouTube is one platform
