One issue I noticed with hanging any frames in the media room is the vibrations when watching… unless they are totally glued to the wall on all sides, they shake when the sub makes a loud sound… it is sometimes very distracting.. so I took them off and put it at the entrance of the media room…

also your wall color is too light.. don’t you see any reflections on the wall when watching a movie?

I am planning to add acoustic panels to first reflection points and hang the posters a little high on the wall. It is a closed room with no windows or any natural light source and when all the lights are off it is pitch dark.

Below is the color I used with flat finish and we did not want to go too dark as the room it a corner room and dark with out lights.

Already much been said about speakers and receivers I want to say about acoustics… acoustics are very much key for good sound experience…. As someoe said they are working on acoustics panel … if your basement is unfinished please first work on acoustics as your budget is flexible…

The room is concrete on three side with mineral wool insulation and got the rockwool insulation rest of the room. Room has very minimal sound reflection. So will add some panels at the first reflection points and do some room calibration and see results and make any adjustments need after that.

Did you talk to your AV guy about why he would suggest Elite screen? Any particular reason, like ambient light in room or any other reason?

You can start with the Silver ticket screen and may be if you don't like it you can change it later and you can sell it on marketplace with out much loss.

If your budget permits, go for the EPSON LS11000 which is a laser projector with less maintenance with no bulb replacements and better performance.

Check projector throw distance selecting the model of projector you want to go with from this website.

https://www.projectorcentral.com/projection-calculator-pro.cfm

Depending on the viewing distance pick your screen size. if you are sitting 10' away from a 150" screen you have to rotate you to cover the edges.

Here is another article to calculate the screen size: https://www.computerworld.com/article/209134/how_big_a_screen_do_i_need_for_my_room.amp.html

Another resource to design your HT, will suggest the right screen size for your immersive experience.

He said EPV screens have 1.25 Gain reflecting level and gives a much better quality.

I am considering to go with Laser projector either Epson LS 11000 or JVC LX NZ3.

There are a few variables to consider here:

Silverticket screens have a 1.1 gain compared to 1.25 and it doesn't make a huge difference.

How dark is the room? any windows that you are not covering?

I would go with the Epson Projector, see the comparison below.

https://www.crutchfield.com/S-joTtY2R1pge/compare_257LXNZ3B_278LS11000/JVC-LX-NZ3B-vs-Epson-Home-Cinema-LS11000.html

What is your throw distance? (Projector to screen distance)?

Scenario:

If your projector is 20' - 25' away and screen size is 130" - 150" and room with ambient light, you need a high gain screen to enhance the brightness of the picture to be adjust for the ambient light and the projector should also have 2500 - 3000 Lumens brightness.

Provide your room dimensions and detail of your setup you want to go with. May be someone also can pitch in and share their experience.

Isn’t the media room supposed to be dark when the lights are off??
this is just my recent observation that any loose objects like toys on the floor, frames on the wall, any loose items on the shelf, etc are causing some noise when the sub woofer makes the room/floor vibrate.. many people may not even notice it..

Yeah bro, I am leaning towards Epson. The throw distance is about 18ft.

I got the EPV screen for $700 (dealership price), online lo $1300 undi, so went for it.

Any inputs on Denon AVR 3700 vs 3800?

Silver ticket could have worked, but anyways you got the EPV.

I use Anthem AVR , cannot recommend anything other than that because it sounds great. I had a Yamaha previously and did not auditioned any other AVR. So may be someone who is using a Denon can talk about it.

Yes, that is the point of picking a lighter shade.

I don't like bass to shake things up, I enjoy tight bass and I have nothing placed in the room other than speakers and a sofa. Will see how it works after adding the poster frames and update here.
