Fly to SF or SD and drive towards the opp way. PCH for a week is very nice. Not terribly cold, but cold enough for Floridians. 

Or drive straight up to Vermont on the east coast and fly back one way from Burlington VT area to your place. One way car rentals. 

I heard PCH to Washington is also very rugged and nice. Never did that.

-Via flight--> delhi--Road Trip on rental car-> amritsar ---->chandigar--->manali ---->ladakh  and ladakh to manali to chandigar to delhi ( Car) to chennai flight -- Chennai to vjwada car
