eroju "Apply for Renunciation" or submit "Renunciation Certificate: antunnaru, 

Citizenship interview lo naa passport uscis vaade unchesukunnadu, nenu ippudu em submit cheyyali? 

 

Please anyone who applied for tourist visa in recent times can you pls let me know if this Applying for Renunciation is mandatory? TIA

Why would USCIS ask for/ take your Indian passport? Only document they would be taking is your US Greencard.

Yes they took both GC and Indian PP, this happened in 2019

did my own research and it says it is mandatory to Apply for Renunciation and then submit the visa app.

You prolly handed it off by mistake. But they will have nothing to do with Indian passport.

Now your renunciation application will be rejected since they will ask for you to send your Indian passport along.

That is correct, back in the day, you were able to do both renunciation and OCI in the same appliaction at the same time but now it is one after the other.
