Ray Tomlinson used inter-organization messaging system that's similar to email. He also used the symbol "@" to separate person's name from the organization's name. Shiva Ayyadurai claims that he invented a computerized inter-office mail system for his school when he was just 14. He also used the word "email," used cc and bcc in mails, and received copyright for the tech.

If Shiva Ayyadurai is a child prodigy, then why didn't he invent anything worthwhile later raises many questions. He is also popular for conspiracy theories on COVID-19 (he said that lock down is not necessary and vitamins could cure covid). He also uses dark-skinned, low-caste Indian, racism victim cards to support his claims.

On the other hand, why Ray didn't contest the claim of "original creator of email" for over 30 years is difficult to understand. but Ray was only known for his contribution to tech industry. he didn't lean towards sensationalism.
