Google laid off a software engineer who was working since 2003 and been part of major projects . He received email followed by access denial  immediately.  He was told not to attend campus even as guest !!  

Lesson for newbies..no matter how important your work and your contribution is..the moment your job is no longer important they will send you home..they won't offer grand farewell or put flowers on your table with an apology and thanks for your contribution..
