You are correct but it is a rough measure that i take, usually 6 adults ki adi sari potadi, approx 4 lbs (could be less sometimes as I take a back leg, it weigh a little less or more )

pick a bigger pot so that there is atleast 1/4th space left when biryani fully cooked, pick a wide pot than a tall one. Pick a pot with thick bottom

I manage 4lb meat with 6 galsses of rice in this pot

Dont use non sticks man .. Get used to Stainless steel or get hexaclad
