Don’t make a switch at the moment, things are bad. So keep trying and if you get a job , continue those two jobs. Once the market is stable and your new job is comfortable make a switch.

Companies will create a generic software role posting in LinkedIn and keep it open where people apply to it over the years showing that huge number of applicants.

Mainly this bro, DevOps is fine if you are happy with your day to day work but I don't see it having the potential to help someone reach a level of say a lead Architect if you want to stay in Tech side of things, or a directorial role like say Infrastructure director etc. 

Think about it this way bhayya, you are neither a developer nor a total admin anymore. To be honest, going down the road Developers will be able to handle all the DevOps tasks themselves apart from doing development so the role itself of DevOps is redundant at that point. Right now, it's like a jack of all trades aka all mix fruit juice but with increasing AI and automation, would that role even be needed in the future is what we need to consider.
