Today, Insider was reporting that the company is implementing much stricter performance measurements for engineering, with some salespeople being put under pressure to quit or succumb to harsh performance policies of their own. This is consistent with what sources have been telling TechCrunch. This could include performance reviews based on the quantity of code produced for engineers, a flawed way to measure engineering productivity, which encourages quantity over quality. While salespeople are being put between a rock and a hard place, being asked to choose between signing a strict one-month performance improvement plan or taking an exit package. https://techcrunch.com/2023/02/14/salesforce-yields-to-activist-pressure-with-harsh-new-policies-for-engineers-sales-people/ 2 1 Quote

Activist investors have been pushing the company to reduce costs, leading to this move. The new performance measurements for engineers could be based on the amount of code they produce, which is not an accurate measure of engineering productivity and may prioritize quantity over quality. Salespeople are also facing a difficult choice, being given the option to sign a one-month performance improvement plan or take an exit package. Quote

ramudu Posted February 15, 2023 Report Posted February 15, 2023 PIP is going to skyrocket in 2023 , Amazon also forcing managers to put employees on PIP and force them to leave I was a manager at Amazon. My boss encouraged me to quit after I defended a high-performing employee who was about to get the lowest performance rating. An ex-Amazon manager said leadership had to rate a certain number of employees as "least effective." He said he defended an employee who senior leaders placed in this category despite performing well. Shortly after, the ex-manager learned he was on Pivot, Amazon's performance-improvement program.
