Salary Antha istunnaru ante blind ga move avocchu. Phoenix is well developed compared to many other cities. Decent Indian population. Of course summers are hot…but not unmanageable. Housing prices are a bit high depends on where you live. But 180k ki happy ga move avocchu

Close your eyes and move. Summer oka 3 months horrible. Rest of the year is very good. 

Dallas kante 100 times better. Proximity to cali, Nv (vegas) and utah are additional perks. Dallas lo emundhiii love daaa no life anna. Indian restaurants, kitti parties and cinema release lu thappa...Labor area...

But Dallas lo school districts kontha varaku baguntayiii...Phoenix lo konchem chusko manchi school district unna area pick chesuko if you have kids.

pro's and con's cheppandi

180k is a good pay in Phoenix. Rent or home ownership, both are affordable. Communities are well planned…desi population kuda not bad..

Biggest drawback is that it’s a city in the middle of a desert and not much activities if that’s on your priorities list. If you have friends in San Diego, Los Angeles, Vegas etc then life becomes bit easy or else you will feel you are stranded in middle of no where socially..

if you have survived Vijayawada, hyderabad summers without AC .... in childhood ....
this should be cake walk .... beauty is that you can be out side from 5 PM till midnight .... mastu vuntaadi weather .....
we used to play volleball till 9 PM ... we used to start at 7 PM .... sunlight inka vundedi

I know how it feels…experienced a similar story. Moved to PHX with a long term goal but I hardly had any friends and couldn’t adjust myself to the situations there. Summer weather sucks big time but if it’s 180k, I’d invest on a bigger home and stay cooler inside the home. 

If you are married and have kids and do not have a social circle locally, better to avoid PHX. It’s not easy to build a social circle…

Pros

1)good weather 9 months per year.300 sunny days per year

2)affordable homes under 500k..Prices dropping a lot.

3)Property tax is 0.5% one of the lowest in the country

4)Suburbs like Gilbert, Chandler,Scottsdale are in top in the country 

5)good school choice option.Government will fund private schools if you don't like public school

6)Not overcrowded with desks like Dallas ,Austin,Atlanta etc .So good options for future local jobs

7)IT developing a lot recently

8)Close to california-Sandeigo and other cities like Las Vegas.Good chances to get remote jobs from California in future.PST time zone

 

Cons

1)July-September.extreme heat.avergage 115F.But this is school break for kids.so we can plan out of state trip or India trips..Also you can go out of home before 10am and after 7pm in night these 3 months

2)traffic is bad in winter times because of snow birds from other states staying in AZ during winter

180K is definitely very good salary. Very nice place, decent desi crowd, so many indian and non indian things to do. 

As everyone said, the 4months of horrible summer is the biggest drawback. As with every place, it is fine. Every place lo edo oka gola untadi. Taxes, schools, weather, cost of living, social life, restaurants, outdoorsy things etc. ivanni mixey lo veste kallu moosukuni povachu. 

Job market is good but not great.

yeah this is the major fear, am married and have a kid, no social circle in Phoenix. Anduke am not able to push her to move
