Fidelity defies trend, hiring 4,000

While some competitors are streamlining costs and cutting jobs, Fidelity Investments is staffing up. It announced plans to hire 4,000 new workers over the next four months, mostly in customer service and technology roles. The privately owned asset manager acknowledged there is "market uncertainty," but it says it's staying focused on long-term goals. Fidelity has 68,000 employees and is coming off a year of record headcount growth in 2022. Over the last few weeks, layoffs have hit rivals BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, and AllianceBernstein.
