Amazon leaving towns in limbo

Amazon’s latest decision to pump the brakes on the construction of its planned HQ2 in Virginia is part of a broader pullback, The Washington Post reports, which could hurt towns and cities across the U.S. that were counting on jobs and an economic boost from the e-commerce juggernaut. Around 100 facilities in the U.S. have so far been cancelled, delayed or closed, according to Marc Wulfraat, a consultant who tracks Amazon. However, Wulfraat adds that Amazon is still set to expand its logistics footprint in the U.S. this year. Some proposed Amazon sites — including warehouses in Tallahassee, Fla., and Chicago's West Side — have yet to open.
