Over the top , block buster , crowd pleasing movies rarely get any nominations except for specific category like special effects etx. Ex: marvel franchise etc...

Top gun, avatar are all well made technically high quality movies.

Top gun - I'm glad it got the award for sound.

Black panther - obvious it gets award for best costumes.. did you see how unique and good they are ....
