In 2014, the Andhra Pradesh government announced plans to build a new capital city in Amaravati, located in the Guntur district of the state. The development of Amaravati as the new capital was seen as a long-term project that would take several years to complete. However, the development of Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh has faced several challenges, including issues related to land acquisition, funding, and politics. The current state government has also expressed its intention to revisit the plans for Amaravati and explore alternative options for the state capital. While it is not impossible for Visakhapatnam to become the capital of Andhra Pradesh in the future, it would require significant planning, funding, and political will to make it a reality. At present, the focus of the state government is on developing Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Quote
