Anta Assamey Posted April 9, 2023 Report Posted April 9, 2023 Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Bandipore Tiger Reserve in Karnataka to participate in programmes celebrating 50 years of “Project Tiger” on Sunday morning. His itinerary included a 20-kilometer safari where he observed habitat improvements, water holes, and elephant camps. Modi was seen sporting a camouflage clothing and a hat before going on a safari and this look completely differentiates him from the traditional politician look. Additionally, he had planned to meet with frontline field staff and self-help groups that participate in conservation activities. Following his visit to the Bandipore Tiger Reserve, PM Modi was scheduled to visit the Theppakadu Elephant Camp of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in Tamil Nadu. Here, he planned to meet with Raghu, the orphaned elephant featured in the Oscar-winning documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers,’ and Bomman and Bellie, the couple who raised Raghu. Later, the PM was set to attend the inaugural programme at the Karnataka State Open University in Mysuru. At the Mysuru event, PM Modi was to release the government’s vision plan for tiger conservation during ‘Amrit Kaal’ and launch the International Big Cats Alliance. PM Modi was expected to release the 2022 tiger census numbers, which showed a six percent increase from the last census figure of 2967.Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Bandipore Tiger Reserve in Karnataka to participate in programmes celebrating 50 years of “Project Tiger” on Sunday morning.
