Sanjiv Posted April 11, 2023 Report Posted April 11, 2023 Why 'Oh why?? If Remarkable 4 (or 5) was launched in 1995 for great grandma and great grandpa for $35 who don't know how to use technology or gadgets, maybe Remarkable might have sold some units. It may be useful to people like Warren Buffet and Carlos Slim who read only books and do not know how to use computers or smartphones or those who never heard of iPad. There is absolutely no comparison between the iPad and Remarkable which costs much more than the iPad quickly on the initial cost of $300, subscription, pen tip replacements every couple of weeks and barely has any features other than writing on black-n-white screen and not so good reading with no backlight. You would spend $600 quickly on Remarkable whereas you can get an iPad for much less that will last you 10+ years. And its pencil is no match to Apple Pencil 2nd gen. A paper notepad is far better than Remarkable. Oh yeah, the iPad comes with so many amazing apps at dirt cheap prices. You wanna read books, just use Books app or Kindle app. You wanna take notes, just use the free Notes app or OneNote app. You can scan documents to PDF or Text using Notes app. You want paper-like screen to write on (like Remarkable), just get PaperLike screen protector that is just like a... paper to write on! Sync your content seamlessly to iCloud and other cloud services. And the list goes on and on... You can buy anywhere from iPad mini to iPad Pro and from Apple to eBay. Quote
