Hindu/Christian male if marries another woman while first wife is still alive and not divorced, can attract criminal charges as bigamy is not allowed. Unnessasary inheritance issues vastayi and even marriage kuda consummate ayitadi if anyone of them challenges the issue in court..

Where as muslim law, a male can marry upto 4 wives at the same time. So many people who want to marry legally without divorcing their first wives usually do so by converting at least for the namesake to muslim and get married.
