I just tried and it works as it always did (like an FTP client or a browser on the desktop).

Open Documents app, go to Browser menu

search for "youtube download" in the browser.

Click any downloader site (I used ssyoutube.com)

Pasted a YT URL into the site and click Download.

Files are saved into My Files\Inbox

Sometimes screen recording and taking screenshots on Netflix, Udemy, YT records blank video/image as they protect content but I found it is not consistent as it works most of the time.

On the desktop, you can use any of the YT downloader sites for free.

If the videos are private on YT needing login, you could try this (I haven't tried it):

For premium videos, you can try logging into YT inside 4k Downloader -
