Most of the freshers who get into WITCH companies are very little to no skilled. Compare that to a bachelors graduate or intern here in US. 3.5L ivvatam kuda ekkuva ani anipistadi. Literally they are getting trained by getting paid.

 

But what you said is right for later in the career roles, they were underpaid but to my understanding their pays went up considerably during pandemic.
