. After 16 rounds of counting, Sowmya Reddy managed a slender lead but BJP leaders challenged the verdict and insisted on a recount.

 

Eventually, after detailed recounting, her margin increased to 294 votes, prompting officials to take up recounting all over again. After the second recount, BJP's CK Ramamurthy gained a lead of 17 votes over Sowmya Reddy, forcing Congress leaders to challenge the decision
