Don't even worry about it , you are good.

You can have as long as you want. However, you should be able to justify the overlap. 
 

you can give a justification as if like your employer doesnt want to revoke your H1B thinking that you will be coming back and your employer agreed to pay you while your H1B is active.

Did ur new employer file H4 along with H1 transfer ? 
what is usual standard practice?
