SaradaChinnodu Posted June 7, 2023 Report Posted June 7, 2023 brothers - asalu Katha enti ante Currently, I'm maxing out my 401K. My company provides 100% match upto 6%. ee IT lo inko 30 yrs dobbalenu ani clear understanding undi so want to save up and invest in rentals for supplemental income. Question enti ante - should I just contribute upto 6% to get full match from company and save up the rest to get a rental to expedite this process or should I continue to max out and save anything left over to purchase rental? My feeling is that if I end up cashing out 401K before retirement since I'm looking at early retirement , I would end up paying 10% penalty along with tax bracket. so, wondering ... feedback pls... All Americans do equity investments in any format. We need wise to make 401K fund selections. 8 minutes ago, SaradaChinnodu said: brothers - asalu Katha enti ante Currently, I'm maxing out my 401K. It's all up to your plan options. If your plan has low-cost funds and you plan to retire early then maxing out 401K is not a bad idea. Quote

Personal situation , definitely contribute up to company match .. I personally max out because stock market is one of the passive ways to earn some money . Rental investing is for hustlers.it takes only one bad tenant to mess up everything. And I don't want to be involved in talking are of properties and tenants . If you hire property manager , they will eat some profits . I go all in on stock market . May be sometime in the future , if I have close to 500k in all stocks , I will go for rental investing .. 4 Quote

ap2usa Posted June 7, 2023 Report Posted June 7, 2023 I would do 401 k till 100% match , do backdoor/mega roth ira( post tax) research if this right one for you. you can withdraw contributions before 59.5 without penalty. Quote
phatposts Posted June 7, 2023 Report Posted June 7, 2023 Keep the 401k max out as-is for now. Get some clarity on rental investment (how much, which area, etc etc.) Once you are clear - adjust your 401k till you save for your rental. Right after buying the rental - start maxing out 401k again. First rental takes time to stabilize and for you to get a hang. Keep switching till you get mental clarity on your goals. Good luck. 1 Quote

I would suggest to max our 401k bro.. you can always take a 401k loan from your 401k contribution upto $50k and you end paying interest to yourself.. which is a win-win in your case! 1 Quote
