You are giving too much importance to what other people think or say… do whatever is affordable to you.. have a honest conversation with your wife about this.. you don’t want to drown yourself in debt to satisfy a friend or a relative who meets once a week/month.. if it doesn’t work out, move to a place and make new friends..
