Robert Hadden, a former gynecologist at Columbia University, has been found guilty of federal sexual abuse charges. The charges include enticing and inducing individuals to travel interstate for illegal sexual activity. Hadden's case gained widespread attention after former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang's wife, Evelyn Yang, came forward with allegations of assault, which led to more women sharing their experiences. The US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York referred to Hadden as a "predator in a white coat." The judge denied the prosecution's request to keep Hadden in custody until his sentencing.

During a remand hearing held after Hadden's conviction, several of his victims gave emotional statements and requested that he be remanded into custody immediately. Prosecutors expressed concerns that Hadden might harm himself or flee the jurisdiction if not detained before his scheduled court appearances. The judge acknowledged the danger Hadden posed to the community due to his "compulsions," but denied the motion to remand him, pending the filing of additional briefs. Hadden was initially charged with six federal abuse counts but was later indicted on four counts of enticing and inducing individuals to engage in illegal sexual activity.

In October, the center and the hospital announced a $165 million settlement with 147 patients of Mr. Hadden. The settlement followed a $71.5 million agreement reached in 2021 between the center and the hospital and 79 former patients.
