dasari4kntr Posted July 11, 2023 Report Posted July 11, 2023 NRIs (Non-Resident Indians) can vote in Indian elections in two ways: In person: NRIs can register as overseas electors and vote in person at the polling station in the constituency where they are registered. To do this, they need to submit an application form (Form 6A) to the Election Commission of India or their nearest Indian Mission/Post. By Pr0xy: NRIs can also appoint a Pr0xy to vote on their behalf. To do this, they need to submit an application form (Form 6B) to the Election Commission of India or their nearest Indian Mission/Post. The Pr0xy must be a registered voter in the same constituency as the NRI. Here are the eligibility criteria for NRIs to vote in Indian elections: They must be Indian citizens. They must have attained the age of 18 years on or before the qualifying date for the election. They must have been absent from India for employment, education, or any other reason, and must not have acquired the citizenship of any other country. They must not have been convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude. The Election Commission of India has not yet implemented e-postal ballots for NRIs, but it is expected to do so in the near future. This would allow NRIs to vote online from anywhere in the world. Here are the steps on how to register as an overseas elector to vote in Indian elections: Download the application form (Form 6A) from the Election Commission of India website. Fill out the application form and attach the required documents. Submit the application form to the Election Commission of India or your nearest Indian Mission/Post. The required documents are: A recent passport-size photograph. Self-attested photocopies of the relevant pages of your passport. A copy of your visa (if applicable). Once your application is processed, you will be registered as an overseas elector and you will be able to vote in Indian elections. I hope this helps!
