Networking is important in any job esp IT. Its very common for Americans to recruit people they know for the positions available under them. Its very common. Mostly they get people who are good, and contribute in new roles.

I am sure desis are doing this and its not restricted to telugus. We get the rap as we are more in number and sometimes go overboard.

Okappudu Gujjus dominated businesses and consultancies and their population was high in USA. Last 15-20 yrs we over took them and venturing into their areas (Grocery stores, restaurants, other businesses), etc.
