problems only! They asked my aunt to pay 1000 or so. she locked it in the vault and picked up while coming back

Ledhu! Income from other sources kinda declare chesukuni tax kattali returns lo. Also 8 years varaku untey ne capital gains exemption. If you cut it at 5 years! Capital gain tax paduthundhi.

Got it. We did the same. Bought here and wife made jewellery in India. 

Just keep in mind, its risky to take gold to india. Esp customs. Always keep the receipts with you. Worst case you may have to pay some tax. 

We asked the local jewellers to convert the gold to bangle (charge around $30-$60) and wear it in customs check.

Search for Gold American Eagle if you are buying as investment. American eagle itey you can literally walk into a local gold shop and sell it for that days gold price in future .. If planning to melt , get anything from top picks .. usual gaa American eagle oka 50-60$ expensive untundi for  1 0z
