what is a man - whoever the society deems a man is a man. Its that simple. It has nothing to do with biology. I, with a micropenis, am still a man or atleast a manlet. so the standards of acceptance of someone as a man is flexible. just like the term 'white' as a racial signifier.

Under this social reality, transgenders are trying to force the society to recognize them as man/woman.
