tbh....if someone says they are just getting by with 175K USD income, they have bigger problems than inflation like life style creep, impulsive purchases and poor view of money (utter mismanagement).

The avg. salary in most states of US stands around 60K. Its all about planning. 

100K vachevadu kuda life style and expenses manage cheskunte , he/she can save. Like wise, manage cheyyalekapothey 200K vachina dikkula choodalsinde....

Humans are known for giving cheap excuses for their disability to manage money.

175K is a lot of money. With a little bit of planning and control they can still lead a luxurious life than most.
