30% tax - 10,500 remaining

401K max out (1500/month) - 9000 remaining

Mortgage + Insurance - 4000/month. If no home, you can easily rent a home for $4000/month - $5000 remaining.

Utilities + Food + expenses - $3000/month. 

Still saving $2000/month. Also any bonus + RSU's + ESPP is all savings. Plus 401k.

Bottomline - Decent living without any compromises. However mortgage is the key. Its better to rent a house in this market than buying. You can rent a very good house for $4000.
